Breaking News: Leadville 100 Updates – Lance Armstrong, the famous French Bicyclist who against all odds bested cancer, has made his comeback official by winning the Leadville biking tour, beating 6 time champion Dave Wiens.
Now I remember when I wanted to enter a bicycle tour just like the Leadville 100 but I can’t remember the last time I updated my contact info. It was about 5 years ago when I actually bought my first bike and learned to ride it (yes I know I’m quite late to the whole biking and bike tours thing) but it was a heavy metal bike and I remember it was very heavy to lift, which can be a blessing or a curse.
See, if you’re competing in the Leadville 100, you need to update your bike or cycling gear to the best and latest, and lightest. The only time I can think of using a heavy duty steel bike is when you’re going to take a lot of hits or collisions, which is generally bad to be doing in the first place because you can injure yourself, others, the bike, and external property. A heavier bike might also make pedaling much harder to do. If that happens well, you lose your energy and you’ll fall behind the race.
If you look closely at one of the pictures on the internet about the Leadville 100 updates, you’ll see many bikers cheering and lifting their bikes. You may think they are all heavy bikes but they’re actually a lightweight titanium alloy (very expensive but durable as steel) and feel almost like a feather when lifted. If you ever go to a biking tour or marathon, it is not uncommon to see bicyclists whizzing by you at 30 or 40 miles per hour (35-45 kilometers per hour) which is almost as fast as slow moving cars, that’s really fast! But it takes a lot of energy and carbohydrates to be able to have enough energy to pedal such speeds for such a sustained amount of time.
The Leadville 100 tournament is held once in a while but I have been checking out an update on whether or not they are changing that. While bicycles usually get some money, a lot of the proceeds goes to noble charitable causes that can range from saving the homeless, cancer research (always a biggie for Lance Armstrong because he is a cancer patient survivor), or AIDS research. Also, if you bike a lot, you’ll stay very fit and it always feels good to feel healthy. I hope the next Leadville 100 Updates will feature some new blood as Dave and Lance are quite notable bicyclists in this region of the world.
